Orange Dream Thoughts and Info Search

snakewrangler69 Nov 15, 2010 01:13 PM

I am looking for unbiased information on this morph. I have seen the orange dream spider, which is a nice combo. That's on the positive side. On the negitive side, I have not seen any males available, on kingsnake. Also, the price has remained constant for over a year.($1500)Whle other co-dominate morph prices have been adjusting to the laws of supply and demand, the orange dream has not. It seems as if "market manipulation" has occured.

There is one male dream combo available currently on KS and a few more male dreams advertised on another site.

From what I remember they were much more than $1500 last year.

Not seeing any "market manipulation" here...?

Market manipulation? Are you saying there is an inherent rule that morph prices be lowered a certain percentage each year? What if there is only one breeder with a given morph, should they be required to lower their price? You talk about supply and demand, but seem to forget the supply. If you want an orange dream for less than $1,500, just go find one for less than $1,500. I have some captive hatch animals that I hope to prove genetic this year, and I don't plan on selling ANY of the babies till I have made a half dozen combos, and believe me, if someone wants one of these new morphs they can pay what I am charging or they can just go find someone else with the same animals for cheaper. Oh wait...

You might be a ball python fanatic if you subconsciously convert the price of virtually everything in to units of piebald ball pythons

That was so awesome!! You took The words right out of my mouth except for the few morphs to prove out this year, I only have 1 I am trying to determine what it is. Then maybe 1 more in a year or 2. But you are correct new morphs hit the market and 2 years later some people are expecting to pay $100 for a new morph.

...they were out there cheaper....

you might have missed them....

there is no such thing as market staging....

prices go as we let them....we buy or we don't...they sell or they don't.....

......they are a nice morph that cleans up and colors up alot of stuff......good luck.....

For not mass producing the Orange Dream...

Trust me I could have flooded the market with Orange Dreams, but I decided to target a few combos instead. If I hatched a straight up Orange Dream this year it was by mistake. The only market manipulation going on is me deciding not to make a bunch, trust me. If you want a male Bob O'Brien is the only one with them that I am aware of and he sets the price. He paid good money for his animals and has every right to try and recoup his investment and make a little cash too.

The prices will adjust with the market... no one can stop that, but It may not go down as fast as you like or as slow as I would like.

Amen! It's a boa morph example, but I've watched the ONLY guy producing this morph take the price from 4500 in Oct. 09, 3500 in Feb. 10, and then all the way down to 1500 in Oct. 10. I have one and I'm FAR from happy. He's single handedly killing the market and has NO competition up until this point. If the original poster had purchased an Orange Dream and then you flooded the market and/or dumped the price then i'd say he had something to be upset about. I think I'd be happy to see the price hold.

Whats the big deal? Wait around until you find one for a price you want to pay, or buy something else? Its not like its 2001 and there are three morphs to pick from...there are a gazillion now. Take you pick...

People can only hatch, house and feed so many snakes. Eventually, the co-dom syndrome will take hold and there is only one way for them puppies to go.

I could probably count on one hand the people I know for sure that produced OD's this year. When more are produced Im sure the price will fall, but until then would you sell something for less what you could get for it just because?
