i was wondering why you must have a tank established for 2-3 weeks ahead of time. i meant yeah i understand if its your first tank and want to make sure everything lives and does well but why wouldn't for the second tank like a week for a few days be good enough(if almost everything done is the same as the first one). probably will set it up this weekend... i wanted to try getting some leuks and will most likely be able being that i know a breeder pretty close by.

well sorrry for the long post i just wanted to know the importance of setting it up so far in advance.

As long as your sure the plants are clean and the temperature and humidity are okay, it should be no problem. I dont wait any great lengh of time with my setups any more. Talk to you later.

Hi,
Part of the reason for letting your tank set for a few weeks has to do with the plants etc you introduce into the tank. New purchases will most likely have been recently sprayed with pesticides who's potential to kill your frogs is very high. If this is the case, you need to let your tank set for 4 weeks minimum. Topical pesticides can break down in that time frame but systemic pesticides may last longer and all the washing you do will not reduce the time by much. Remember, frogs absorb things very readily through there skin and are very small so where only a few milligrams might harm us the potential to kill your frogs is multiplied 1000x.

my 2 cents

an easy way to get around all the worry of pesticides, is to buy plants that are raised without them. if you do this, then there is no real reason that you couldn't set up a tank and just drop the frogs in. i have done this, and have had no problems.
