Question about Lessers.........

byron.d Nov 18, 2010 10:55 AM

I have a few questions that I hope some of you here can help me out with.....

Is there a difference between a Lesser and a Lesser Platinum?

Is the Lesser a 'super' or homo expression of two different genes?

If the Lesser is one of the above, I would think it would produce multiple morphs if bred to a normal.... Assuming.... Is that correct..??

Thanks in advance for the help. I've worked with recessive genes in colubrids for so long that all this co-dom / incomplete gene stuff has my head spinning - but I love it nonetheless.

Lesser and lesser platinum is that same thing. Lesser is just the shortened version of the name. It was named that because the original Platinum male had another gene at play that gave him his appearance. His resulting offspring were obviously not normal but had less going on than he did.

lesser and lesser platies are the same. It is a co/dom morph, if breed to a normal you would get 50% lessers and 50%normals(in theory), lesser to lesser would get you a super lesser aka the blue eyed lucie (bel)(25% chance) lessers(50% chance) and normals (25% chance)

lesser is basically the same gene as the butters, and mojo's too so you could get the blue eye lucie that way too.
