Good stuff. Hate to pick favorites among my snakes, but my stillwater pair are the very best of snake pets, in every way. ...except that they'd just as soon eat your head as a rat.

Jesus! I have been very lucky, all of my snakes are attitude free. They know when they arrive that I don't approve of biting! lol
In over 30 years I have only been bitten once by my Burm and that was a feeding response that my thigh took the brunt of. You should give that snake a good talking to!

No attitude at all...super tame! Just that I pulled out the rack tub she was in at about face height with a rat in the tongs and she just went off and hit me right on the nose! ...simply an insane feeding response. Otherwise, she is the tamest most handleable snake I've ever had. ...like an old piece of rope!

nice looking snakes......

"killer instincts"

IMHO at least one of them is actually a texas red X stillwater cross. In my experience you never get those colors in a straight stillwater. If you look at the "handfull of Stillwaters" posting a couple threads down you see classic wheat yellow ground color of typical stillwater line.

I suppose it is a pandora's box sort of thing. I know myself and others have outcrossed the Kingsville TX red line into the Stillwater line and I am personally getting some very nice looking animals. I tried to coin the term "flame bulls" but I am no marketing genius so it never took off. I am maintaining the original Stillwater line as well for prosperity.

The flames vary from really flowerpot red to little or no color because the "red" gene is multi-variable but if your "stillwater" has any orange or red in the ground color it is probably not a "Stillwater".

The girl pictured below is now a breeding adult and throws some unbelievable offspring.

They were sold to me as "Stillwater" Hypos. I actually like the one that you think is a cross because of all the orange. I have been looking for a male with the same colors. They are sisters from the same clutch. The more "Stillwater" of the two is a bit kookoo, she poops in her hide and is a bit more skittish. I love them regardless and they will have a good life while I have them.

Thanks! Those are AP cages. I need to get some more for a few more snakes that crept into my collection while I was not looking.

Nice looking snakes! You have got to love that Pituophis Killer Instinct!!!!!!

Based on the high color in the back ground of at least one of those two I would strongly suggest you have texas red x stillwater crosses. Look down at the "handfull of stillwaters" post to get an idea of classic wheat yellow stillwaters. Stillwaters can get color in the saddles but generally have relatively drab yellow ground color. I use the term drab a bit loosely as stillwaters are fine looking snakes!

I guess it is a pandora's box thing as I have personally worked on getting really consistently colorful hypos.....from my Kingsville TX "red" line crossed with my founder group of Stillwater hypos. Suffice it to say, "in general if your Stillwater hypo has nice orange, peach, or reddish color it probably isn't a Stillwater..... in the truest sense............

The girl pictured below is now an f2 adult who throws really nice looking "flame" bulls. I attempted to coin the name but I guess I'm not much of a marketing genius so it has yet to take. Because the "red" gene is multi-variant such a cross produces colorful and not so colorful offspring so My guess is that many of the not so colorful babies being produced are simply sold as "Stillwaters".
