Royal Milk Snake? what is it?

Arkanis Nov 19, 2010 03:47 PM

I saw a classified add here selling "royal milk snake" -- what is it? an intergrade or something? http://market.kingsnake.com/detail.php?cat=59&de=821457

pueblan x honduran

Arkanis Nov 19, 2010 04:04 PM

ok, thanks.... i am new to milk snakes but it did look like it had some honduran in there

DMong Nov 19, 2010 05:07 PM

Gee!,..imagine that! It's the infamous Hondo x campbelli cross..LOL!

That was exactly my point down below by the way.

All it needed was some hypomelanism thrown in there. But I guess it could be "het" for the trait just the same.

This could not have been posted at a better time.

sad, but true!

Agree and we can bury this for good! LMAO!

DMong Nov 19, 2010 08:00 PM

I don't know how it can be double het for a single recessive trait, but I am all for burying it anyway for sure..LOL!

In other word.....I fully agree!

Yep it's a Honduran X Pueblan. Why would someone do that I'll never know. But, to each their own. Hybrids suck, but that's my own opinion. Some will agree, others will disagree.

DMong Nov 19, 2010 06:23 PM

Yeah, it was probably because some dude was too freakin lazy to go pickup a Hondo OR a campbelli to make offspring of either one!

So he thought it would be a fabulous idea to produce a bunch of crap to disperse out into the herp hobby.

Its not a hybrid but a cross. Its not like the old days where you were tempted to put ssp together because you couldnt find a mate. I remember a Az Mt king I had that had more miles on it than I did at one point. It had been to each coast twice in breeding attempts only to find out the HIM was a HER. WAAAAY back when we used behavior as a tool for sexing, lol.
