breeding quenstion

mattkau Nov 20, 2010 12:05 AM

I'm not much of a morph guy, but a friend of mine gave me some adult corns so I can breed them for him. He's going in another direction. What would I get when breeding a female bloodred to a male lavender? Also, male caramel x female snow? Thanks. Only other adult I have is a male snow, but I know what snow x snow makes(I would hope so anyway).

Lavender and bloodred give you normals het lavender and diffused. Caramel and snow give you normals het caramel, amel, and anery. So

Thanks. I have a pair snows, so maybe since I would be getting all hets, a better pairing would be bloodred x snow and caremel x snow? More possibities when hets are bred.

Well the Bloodred and Lavender double hets might give you a plasma or two.

Yeah unfortunately you will get all normals with plenty of hets, and double hets. You would have to breed the babies together when they're old enough, to get some actual morphs.

But what I am wondering is if your friend is going in a different direction, then why are you breeding them for him?

Well, he wanted to sell all of his cornsnakes but doesn't have an account on kingsnake classifieds. Since I do and am only using one ad I was going to post the add for him and get half the profits. Later I suspected that he really just wanted to use the space they were in for ball pythons and boas, so I suggested letting me breed the adults since it's close to brumation time anyway. I would be able to keep any hatchlings I wanted and sell the rest. He has also never bred anything before. I'm not hardcore into cornsnake morphs, but it would cool to have a couple pairs of triple hets.
