Mites on Savy

DiamondFlame10 Nov 20, 2010 04:40 PM

So, I purchased a savannah monitor from somebody I thought was reputable.... I have gotten two ball pythons from them without a problem. However, a while ago I saw a little black bug on it... I took the bug off and was like weird. I didn't think much of it, although I did pay more attention to him because of my experience with mites at a facility I used to volunteer at. Yesterday I was feeding my savvy and i saw a couple little black bugs crawling around on his back again... I hadn't seen them for a while...

How do I go about treating mites? I have ball pythons and a skink and I've never experienced them myself. I've checked all my other animals and haven't found any but plan on treating them as well just in case. I was planning on using the mite-off as a cleaner, is that also safe to use on the animal? any suggestions would be very helpful as I've never had to deal with it before by myself.

Thanks a bunch!

I would change the whole substrate because these can spread out real quickly through your collection and become a nightmare. They can also transmit a lot of diseases from reptile to reptile, like blood parasites and viral diseases. One single female that survives can put a lot of eggs and start everything again.

Put a lot of this product all around and keep an eye opened.
