Can you ship live snakes? And if so who does it and how do you pack them? The UPS lady looked at me as if I had grown an extra head!

No you can only ship dead snakes. sorry but I just couldn't pass that one up.
What you need to do is take the snakes you want to ship to whoever does Cryonic freezing in your area. ACME Cryonics is the cheapest I've found in my area. Then you can ship the refrigeration unit with the snake or snakes (small containers will hold up to 10 neonates) via FED EX. All the person receiving has to do is turn the unit off and the snakes will thaw (much like frogs in science class) and turn in the container to get the deposit back. Hope this helps.

From all I've read about shipping animals, Delta Dash (as in Delta Airlines) is the way to go. FedEx and UPS really don't like it, but lots of people get away with it. (And lots get caught.) Delta Dash means you have to drop the shipment off at the airport and the person recieving it has to go to the airport to pick it up...but at least you'll know some pseudo-mailman isn't going to open the package and freak and then cause you (and your buyer) a whole lot of headache. (Not to mention endangering the snake!)
I'm sure those with actual experience shipping them can offer better answers...but I thought I'd give it a shot based on all I've read on these forums.

He's right, but following 11Sept combined with America's new policy of "Give me safety over liberty," you can't use Delta without being a Known Shipper. It can be a REAL hassle (and not cheap) to become a known shipper.
Don't freeze snakes, either....lol.
