Photo fun before winter (P.d.jani)

Just some photos before cooling. I worked up quite a sweat trying to get these guys to sit still for pictures, even though outside temps were in the low 40s!

Cool, good to know that there a "pit" fans on the other side of the planet! Great snakes! My P. deppei (d and j) are challenging and only one is going "big".

That genus is starting to get under my skin in a wierd way. They truly awesome ones, like your's, don't seem to be the norm. ..but then I only have:
1.1 P. d. d.
1.0 P. d. j

Great work there ...and thanks for showing off. Highly inspirational.

Thank you for the lovely comments! You were deceived by my field photos though. Home is in the states...for now...

Yes, Mexican Pits are wonderful monsters. My youngest girls are typical adolescent brats, mood swings and all. The 06 (who I just picked up in Sept.) bolts, but as soon as she realizes she can't escape, stands her ground and fights. The baby just fights. No fear, no retreating, just spunk. PaulJH has her brother and he's as placid as their parents. Has been since hatching. Apparently all the evil went into just one egg. The 3 big guys are stellar outreach animals. Don't get put off by spazzy juvies. Just raise them up slowly, interact with them regularly, and yours should turn out great

"PaulJH has her brother and he's as placid as their parents." Now is that me or the snake you're calling placid? I suppose both work

But yeah - that snake is a total pushover. He bit me once when he was a few months old (always bad to have blood drawn when doing the "see honey, it's a nice snake!" demo for your wife - thankfully, she recovered) and since then has become quite tolerant of being handled. Having his cage setup next to my desk at home (plus handling) probably helped get him used to people.

He's starting to yellow up quite a bit - I'll have to post more pics one of these days. In the mean time, here's a photo of my other male taken about a month ago... I believe he weighed around 87g at the time and is currently up to around 115g.
