Anyone have adult deserts??

OZZZ Nov 21, 2010 02:58 PM

Ive seen some spectacular deserts in the classifieds lately and Im wondering if any of you have pics of your adult deserts? Im curious if they loose some of their coloration as they age, some of the ones for sale right now are phenominal and Im not sure if they would retain that into adulthood.

Also, as far as adult size ... Im assuming they are probably in line with cal kings as far as girth and length are concerned... or are they smaller yet??

I was thinking about 3.5' is probably about max adult size??

Here is a pic of my wild caught adult male, although lots of folks will tell you (and i also believe) that this is speckled/desert integrate. I thought i had pics of my adult females on here too but apparently i do not, they also look just as nice.

I don't have any adults at the present time, but here is a female yearling that I believe will retain nice coloration.

Some can become a bit more dull though, especially very old individuals.

Those are all nice. What kind of adult size are we talking? About CA King size or are they more petite?

DMong Nov 22, 2010 12:07 AM

Yes, they are very comparable to Cal. kings in size, and I know of one that is 60 inches long and is at least 24 years old.

Here's couple adult splendida's. The top, and the bottom pics are of the nearly 37" male....as u can see, he's kept his screaming color and pattern well into adulthood. And the one of three females I have (middle pic), well not so much, although she makes up for her subdued color and pattern with her ginormous size of nearly 48"!

Hope this helps!!!!!

Here's my two.
Around 4', he's kept his color well.

This guy is not the most colorful, but he is fairly huge at around 5'.

mbrawley Nov 23, 2010 10:15 AM

Geez. I thought mine were big. 5'! WOW. And the yellow on the first one looks almost neon green. Nice snakes.
