From Zero to Hero!!!

RG Nov 22, 2010 07:19 PM

As a few of you know...I had a slug fest in the beginning of this year's breeding season. Well, I got very lucky and had a few VERY late second clutches. (I have one more clutch to go!)

I paired my Ghost Het Amel male:

to a Hypo Het Amel 66% Het Anery female:

Out of the 7 eggs laid:

(the bluish one, center back, stunk like $heet!)

I ended up with only 3 fertile eggs...can you see the first slit?

The first little pipper was a Hypo and over the next day I had a second one...and it was all pink! That's right, a triple homozygous BABY!

I decided to cut a small window to see what the third one was and was pleasantly surprised with a Ghost!

Can you see the egg tooth?

I was THRILLED to prove out the female Hypo was indeed Het Anery (as well as the known Amel trait).

I was SUPER THRILLED to produce a triple homozygous!!!

The Hypo Het Anery 66% Het Amel is nice too!

It's just hard to be the triple!!!!!

Enjoy...I am!!!!

...you hatched out a few years back???? Impressive animal-I like the pink and white banding!!!!!!

rodneyj Nov 23, 2010 02:26 PM

...on a fortunate clutch. The Opal is quite an accomplishment!!
You are having a great year, maybe that last clutch will be the best.

RG Nov 24, 2010 10:01 AM

I get all exctied when I see Don's stuff too!

I still think his is a step above this one...because his came from Extreme parents.

Having said that...I still have a "Snow" that I got from Terry M. that looks EXACTLY like Don's.

All Pink...no yellow...so I'm hopeful next year will be a big prove out year for him!

The last clutch could have a surprise...I should know in just over a week!

I hope to continue where you left off with the Mega stuff next year!

Don really hooked me up with a deal...so I should have some Mega stuff next year if I'm lucky!

Way to go, Rusty. You worked hard for that. A great clutch, and the triple homozygous is too much. It's great to see the care people are still giving hondos.

RG Nov 24, 2010 10:15 AM

Hey Terry,

Yeah, there are a few of us Hondo nuts that are still willing to work with these highly variable snakes...even though they aren't worth what they used to be.

I'd like to end up with a small number of high end morphs. Now with a Triple Homozygous male (I think)...a Triple Het female or even better, a Hypo Het Snow female because very useful!

Nice Job Rusty, I produced two pearls last year but didn't get any this year.

I think I remember you telling me that you produced a couple triple homos...do you have some neonate pictures or still have them?

What pairing did you do?

I'd love to see what they look like at a year old.

There are a few slight visual indicators that I think could be used in distingusting a Snow from a Triple...of course it's just a theory.

Nope, I sold them both pretty much out of the egg and I haven't seen them since then.I couldn't tell them from a normal snow but I know they where cause one adult was ghost and one was hypo.

Nice job Rusty, and really neat post too. You've worked a long time for that if I remember right.

You deserve a nice relaxing trip to Rock Haven.
