Since we've had a number of fun challenges recently, I thought I'd add another one. So, guess the subspecies AND locality!

Cole, that's a pretty hard curve ball you're throwing. What a great looking animal though.

I am going with Big Horn as well. If nothing else the locality sounds cool. LOL.

Mr. Joe M.! The actual locality of this animal is Littleton, Colorado, with Joe's "Golden Guess" being closest. There wasn't a bad guess among the replies to be honest. This particular animal is has a lot of interesting traits that could place it within any of the Western forms. Nice work, everyone!

I thought it was going to be a trickier locale. Nice snake and nice pic as always!

gerryg Nov 26, 2010 07:45 AM

I was fairly confident with my ID until Dell made his "that's a pretty hard curve ball you're throwing" comment... at that point I realized I should have known that with Cole it just wasn't going to be as easy as it seemed.

Wrong ssp and missed by all of Wyoming and then some... geez.

Cole, Do you need my address to send the prize?

My second guess was going to be prarie king, but the colors were off just a shade, haha.
