yearling extreme

DMong Nov 24, 2010 02:41 PM

My last years hold-back male I produced. They just don't come any more relaxed and calmer either.

Gosh I really like this guy!

It's cool when you get a chill Hondo!

Awesome snake dude!

DMong Nov 24, 2010 03:31 PM

Thanks bro!,....

No doubt man. This guy was super easy-going from day one right out of the egg too. Pretty nice to look forward to after getting bitten or at least crapped on by 90% of most when they are hatchlings..LOL!

Both clutches of these have been very easy-going that is not very typical of most. His father has always been laid-back, and his mother was a real freak up to about 6 or nine months old, and from then on, has been one of the easiest going Hondos you could ever imagine too. I swear, it was like a light switch was flicked. One day the young juvenile mother was extremely nervous, then one day I noticed...wow!....she is chilled-out as all heck, WTF?, and has been that way for the rest of her entire life now.

Nice animal Doug. Yeah, of my two the male is way chilled out and the female, well, she is another story. No biting, but pretty much as spastic as they come when you pull her tub. LOL.

That guy sure is sweet, Doug. It is a nice change to have one be mellow.

DMong Nov 24, 2010 10:31 PM

Thanks Dennis!. Yeah, to have one so mellow right from the start is a real pleasure.

Thanks a bunch Dave.......good eye!, because that's exactly what I like about him too!

Well, not all milks, but here are a few pics of some other cool stuff here.

~Doug

a few pics of a very newly discovered locality-specific "greenish" ratsnake morph(Yellow x Black rat) from extreme northeastern S. Carolina. The original morph male was captured by my good friend on a HUGE wildlife preserve in a very heavily-wooded swamp area back in 2006. He later bred it to two locality females that he captured just less than 150 yards from where the morph male was captured!. That is another thing that makes these so special, you just cannot get any more locality-specific than THAT!, and I have the exact capture locations pin-pointed on "google earth". Here is the animal at about 30 inches in length. When he caught it, it was just shy of 20 inches.

here he is later after he matured some more. He has solid black pupils, and is an unusual form of hypomelanism, because he also produces offspring with very pink eyes as well out of the same clutches.

Here is a normal looking "greenish" rat from his area. He has not found a pure Yellow, or pure Black rat in his are in 20 years, so that area is a definite "greenish" rat locale.

Here is one of the very light hatchlings with the pink eyes that I have here.

And here is a slightly darker hypo female with solid BLACK pupils!

Here is a female het I have of this morph.

and a more gray colored het male as well.

Here is the full history and discription of these on my website.... http://serpentinespecialties.webs.com/futureprojects.htm

a yellow/green brooks yearling I produced.

a killer yearling male sib of the clutch. This guy is going to be STUNNING when he fully matures!

a different looking bronze/gold male sib.

A nice yearling female splendida(of a pair) I traded for one of my normal hypo Hondos.

A yellow rat female I captured here in Brevard County, FL.

A nice 2008 hypo female corn, 100% het lavender/poss. het anery that I traded Kathy Love at a show for one of my amel Hondos.

a little tricolor hypo female from Paul Weaver stock.

a nice male Everglades descending from Hendry County, Fl. stock.

One of my Outer Banks(aberrant/striped) when it was very small. Now it is huge!..LOL!

an adult male hypo, 100% het amel and anery.

proven hypo lavender male I got from a good buddy in Ft. Lauderdale.

big male brooksi that sired the above yearlings.

anyway, those are just a few that most over here have never seen.

Happy Thanksgiving to you Dave, and everyone else too!

regards, ~Doug

Doug, those are some really neat pictures and animals. Those "greenish" ratsnakes are really cool, especially the big male. Your tri-color hypo reminds me of one I have. It's my favorite hondo.

--Dennis

DMong Nov 25, 2010 09:21 PM

Thanks alot Dennis!,....glad you liked those "moonshine" greenish rat hypos too man. The youngsters should look real close to that awesome adult when they mature too.

Yes, that tricolor hypo you have there is really nice. I have a younger one that looks VERY similar to that one you have also.

Yep!,..gotta love nice tricolor hypos man!

cheers!, ~Doug

Thanks for posting all those cool animals. I meant more pictures of that extreme but I certainly got more for my money! LOL

I really like those husky brooksi and that splendida, very nice looking kings.

Also got a nice lesson in what's going on in the rat world as I don't make it over to that forum very often. Those are some cool critters as well!
