Okay...

I hate for this to be one of those "my snake's not eating" posts, but it kind of is. We moved from Florida to Austin, Texas this past August. My 2 and a half year old Florida Kingsnake (Eddie) has not eaten since we moved here. His temperature gradients are exactly the same as they were before the move, his water dish/hide are in the same places they were before we moved. The only difference (aside from the obvious Florida to Texas move) is that he used to be next to a window and now is across the room from one. The room even has similar humidity because I have to monitor that for my gecko and all the reptiles are in the same room. My other snake, the California King, has been eating just fine.

This has bothered me because Eddie's always been my "garbage disposal". For the record, I feed him F/T small rats which have been the perfect size for him so far and he had been eating the same size food for five months before we moved. I don't quite know what else to do other than make sure his husbandry is what it's supposed to be. I thought maybe I should brumate him this winter and then offer food again in the spring, but since he hasn't eaten since July, I don't want him to go *that* long without food. I even tried scenting the rats with lizard skin the fourth time I tried to feed him. He just hasn't been interested.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

maybe a short brumation will hit his reset button. When he wakes up he will be past the transition to his new home, and hungry to boot.

Holly,...

I am thinking Eddie is sensing a different climate in your new area, even though the temps themselves are virtually the same as they were where you were before, and has decided to close down shop for the season..LOL!

To be quite honest, he could easily afford to shed a bit of weight anyway, as there was a great deal of skin showing between all of his scales in the first pic.

I would simply cool him down to around 60 degrees for a couple months and would bet he will be back to his normal voraciously eating self afterwards.

Likely showing his age. Humidity and moving are enough to send him into a brumation cycle. Either super heat him or cool him to snap him back.

Watch the humidity.

I moved from Louisiana to Austin a few years ago and had some similar results with a few of my snakes. Some artificial lighting and a little patience were all it took. Mine do seem to sense the change of seasons more here than in La.
