Zena Escapes!

pyromaniac Nov 27, 2010 06:10 PM

So today I was feeding my 8 little pyros, and the last cage I opened was Zena's tub and discovered she was not in it anymore! She had been in it yesterday. After searching all around the usual places (under the stove, behind the couch, etc) I began to feel in despair of ever finding her. Then I took a look under a stack of egg crates on the adjoining shelf, and when I moved the crates heard a small plop at my feet. There she was! What a relief!

Since then I have bungeed these little tubs, and tested them. Nobody is getting out now!

The new Chiricahua pyros' tubs before bungeeing.

Zena the escapee. None the worse for her little foray into the cat infested snowed in cabin in the woods. LOL!

You got lucky!! Glad you found her. Man, how long did it take you to make the solar system effect on the lids. (air holes, I know).

Luck for sure played a major role in finding her. I had been considering maybe feeding everyone tomorrow instead, and would not have found her so soon, if ever, at east still breathing!

I just drilled a bunch of holes in the lids with a drill. Didn't take more than a few minutes per tub. These tubs are grow out tubs for my crickets but with bungee cords make good baby snake tubs, too.

This was a very low cost lesson! LOL!

Glad you found her. Maybe change her name to Houdina.

A regular Houdini she is! I was very surprised she was able to squeeze out of that tub! She is named for the warrior Zena, who had an adventurous spirit.

Glad you found her Chris or Bob? I had the same incident a year ago. I can't say where I was working but we had to feed snakes in containers and I accidentally left a top not fully contained and a corn snake escaped. To my amazement I found it hiding inside the portable heater machine. I lifted the machine up and 'plop', fell right down!

Beautiful snake and would have been terrible to lose Zena. Cool name!

You can never have only one snake!

Thanks! I felt sick when I couldn't find her in her tub!

I was very surprised that she was able to squeeze out of that tub, what with the latches holding the ends down firmly. But there is enough play in the sides that a tiny persistent snake can escape, hence bungees to reinforce it.
