Gentilis series

Dniles Nov 27, 2010 06:14 PM

I thought I would post some current pictures of the anery and hypo gentilis I hatched out this year. Both are doing well, the hypo is eating f/t pinks on her own and the anery male is a little bit more stubborn eating skink parts and sometimes scented pink heads but not always.

Hypo - hard to tell but it has red eyes

Anery

A few comparison shots...

And here are a few pics of their older sister who is possible double het hypo and anery...quite a looker herself with some nice red showing on her head

I hope you enjoyed.

Man Dave, those are absolutely beautiful!! That anery looks like it might be giving you a hard time so I, being a good friend, will offer to take it off of your hands. LOL. Very nice brother.

Thanks Joe! I think that anery will come around otherwise I'm going to have to do some serious skink hunting!

Those are just incredible Dave!

You may have already wondered about this long ago, and the reds can be naturally pretty variable on milks as we both know, but I have to wonder if that hypo animal isn't also hypo-erythristic!,..i.e. "double hypo"!....gosh that thing is light bro!. That would certainly be unreal if it truly was.

All of those are true beauties man!

Yeah Doug, I have been wondering that. When it first hatched out, I thought it was a ghost but seems too pink to be anery. But I agree, its not what I thought a hypo gentilis would look like...the red isn't very red...more pink. It could be a double hypo!

Maybe we'll get some answers next year if I can produce some more healthy babies, we might be able to make a determination then if there is something more hypo looking with deeper red.

Here is the three clutchmates at hatching...

Yeah Dave, you are probably sitting on the ONLY "double hypo" known in existence! as if the anery and hypo wasn't plenty cool enough all by itself!..LOL!......good luck finding out what gives with it in the future!

Gosh those are stunning man!

Nice group, Dave! I've gotta say, though, there's got to be something else going on in that hypomelanistic critter. Seeing as how the anerythristic animal also shows just a hint of pink (hypoerythristic?), at least on my computer screen, I'd be willing to bet that the hypomelanistic animal is also displaying the anery (hypoE?) trait.

VERY cool. I love that normal animal, too. Super bright!

Hey Cole,

I think you are right...and as I recall, you were one of the ones to suggest that it might be hypo-e when I posted pics when they hatched out.

It will be interesting to see how it changes as it matures.

It looks like a ghost to me.

Really sweet looking animals Dave, and glad to hear their eating for you too. However grudgingly, it's always good to have them taking something on their own at least.

Thanks for up dating how they're doing.

Dave,

I'm inclined to agree with the others that are saying it isn't a simple hypo. Seeing that you produced an anerythristic hatchling I'm really inclined to say that it's a ghost. It certainly doesn't look like any simple hypo I've ever seen, as the reds never seem to have that much of a fade on a normal hypo.

Mitch - yeah that's what I originally thought when it first hatched out. will be cool to see what it looks like in a couple of years.

I have to agree as well,I think its a double homo (ghost just for easy name) but I think that the anery is probably really a hypouerthristic sp? like the hondos.I think if it was a true anery then the other would look like a real ghost.
Maybe next year you will produce a hypo and you will see the difference.
But yeah, I would say its the anery looking one that is makeing it look different.

Have to agree with Doug and the others...that thing looks WAY different than the normal wild type.

You might have 3 different genes at work...hypoerythristic, anerythristic, and hypomelanistic.

Just a guess...the Anery looks much more washed out than the "hypo".

If it's not a Anery...than the Hypoerythristic gene you're working with is showing some really cool variability!

Either way, they are all great looking snakes!

Can you post a close up of the Anery and the Hypo so I can get a better look at the color differences?

Thanks,
Rusty

They look even better in person! Very nice!

Those are certainly some handsome morphs Dave. I think the best thing that that line will do is to show how clean the whites can be with random pigment taken away. Very pretty snakes but putting a "normal" version with them may only emphasize the normal beauty, know what I mean? Keep up the good work!

Congratulations Dave.... great work and what stellar lil' kids to propagate! What's it feel like to keep a line going man?? A real credit... I'm pretty damned happy to see them! Job well done.

Have a great Holiday Season,
Chris
