Can anyone tell me a good breeding weight for cal kings? Or point me in the direction of a good post on breeding. Everything I could find to read only stated the obvious. thanks.

I don't really weigh my snakes. I guess maybe I should start, lol. But I have seen some Cal kings get huge and others stay considerably smaller. IMO it's not easy to set a weight by which all snakes will fit. The same goes for Corn snakes and other kings as well. Usually if the female has been eating very well, she will be big enough to breed after they're second winter. I judge each snake individually however. Like I posted above in Tony's Alterna post, I have some 09 Alterna that haven't continued feeding as much as I would like so, I may have to wait a third year. Now if they come out of brumation eating like great white sharks and put on a lot of size, I may consider trying to breed 1 or 2 of the larger ones. But there is one smaller female I know will have to wait. I would say a good rule of thumb for cal Kings is; If a female is not eating full grown mice yet, don't chance breeding her. A male is different since it doesn't have to pass eggs. Hope that helps? Maybe some one else can add to it.
