Cold Room Temp Fluctuation

aquaboyaquatics Nov 29, 2010 08:04 AM

This is my first winter actually trying to put my snakes down for a couple months. I was hoping someone could give me some advice.

Here is my current situation, I have the snakes in a closet that used to be a deck that was insulated and closed in. Due to the location its temp fluctuates allot in a 24 hour period. I have solved the below 55 with a space heater that keeps it at 55 at night and early morning. During the day the temp can jump up 10 degrees or more with the sun shining on that corner of the house.

So my question is how steady do I need to keep this temp? Should I throw a small AC unit on a table in there and hook it to a separate thermostat set to 60 degrees? If so again what is an acceptable tolerance /- 5 Degrees?

Thanks,
Mike

They should be fine.10 degree flop isn't that much and they should be just fine.I would just keep a eye on them and make sure its not getting over 70.

Thanks! It went up to 71 yesterday with the sun beating on that side of the house. I will just have to monitor it I guess.
