Research/Photo

I have been reading Common Kingsnake by Brian Hubbs and his passion has influenced me to do some research here in my area. I think I have a good spot to start. Let me know what y'all think.
It's an old abandon dump sight that has been covered over in the middle with dirt. Has one entrance and a surrounding tree line. The south tree line slops down to a big creek/river. I'm not sure who owns the land, maybe the city, but the owner of the Hobby shop in town leveled the middle and put a model airplane landing strip. Strip was grass for a long time, now it is paved.
What is the best way to get permission to lay cover (plywood) around the tree line. What time of the year should I do that? Appreciate any advice and comments. Thanks

Step 1 would be to find out who owns the land, and secure their permission. Anytime of year that kingsnakes in your area would be active sounds like a good start.

Once you obtain permission it might be best to put your cover out asap so it's already in place come spring when the herps come out and are active.

BTW dumps are good spots for snakes as there is usually a ready supply of rodents.
