Boy, you've just stumbled onto one of the most popular topics of argument...that of which substrate to use.

As far as Calci-Sand is concerned, most people warn very strongly against it as it clumps when wet and poses a great risk for impaction, along with the potentiality for encouraging a beardie to eat its substrate instead of its regular food. Many people recommend staying as far away from it as possible. However, everyone has different experiences, and you will occasionally run into someone who has had no problems with it.

AFAIK Better substrates to use are washed childrens play sand(not for baby beardies), paper towels, or repti-carpet(as long as there are no loose fibers) among others.
