Update on wounded Monster

Jeff Schofield Dec 02, 2010 10:01 PM

The healing properties of reptiles never seem to fail to amaze me. This big girl was found with 2 fresh NASTY wounds the last week of September see pic.

Now before the pic police light into me again, new laptop without any photo software whatsoever. She has shed at least 3-4 times in 10 weeks but just look at the wound....

She was socializing and simply would NOT hold still. Cant really justify a cooling photo session til she is fully healed but she might just be in good enough shape to contribute in the spring.

Cool Jeff. glad to see it is coming a long nicely. What is your theory on the source of the wounds?

Dave, the size of the wound and the size of the snake makes it a quandry. My 2 best guesses would be either raptor or being under something that gets stepped on or the wind knocks something over on....know what I mean? Tin is sharp, and just maybe something came down through the tin and sliced a bit. What I think is impressive is that its healing so well after being taken into captivity.....normally a very stressful thing. I figure 1 more shed and I will put her down and hope she feeds in the spring. J

Glad she's doing well. It's true how remarkably they can heal. Iv'e seen some that were skidded on by a car heal and recover.
So, thats good news.
