Sweet Jerry, good to see you jumping in here.

That milk looks like a black faced taylori from...a from.... Tooele County, Utah???

Okay maybe southern Colorado, Gunnison County. No! dough!! Utah for sure.

taylori from extreme northern Arizona, in the Mojave/Coconino Counties area.

that snake is from NEW YORK!!!!!.....dude......we know where you live....

Sunherp Dec 03, 2010 04:10 PM

Based on appearance alone, I'd suspect that animal is from Garfield County, Colorado. It looks all the world like a West Slope taylori. Cool animal!

Come on Doug, now you have to "always" play the locality guessing game. You've been playing it soft on the North American milks the whole time, and I knew it too.

Nice job dude.

Yeah, well,...Some of the N.A. milks, especially when they start having other geneflow tend to get confusing to me as they aren't my forte, but even I get lucky once in a while..LOL!

Cool Jerry. Do you have some history w/ this animal or did you steal the image off the internet? And I by no means mean that in a negative way. I'm just hoping you have picked up a group of taylori to add to your zonata collection.

Thanks for posting the locality guess.

it is NOT an internet image, but rather a funky cell phone photo that I posted for a very close friend.

As of tomorrow I will have begun my journey with N.A. milks as I will be getting a first specimen of this locality, and they are indeed exact locality. As for further delineation, I can only refer to these as Arizona milks as it's not clear exactly what they are. What I AM told is that they are found in the aforementioned county & are very few & far between.

Thanks guys for jumpin' in and playing!

Planet earth!

gerryg Dec 04, 2010 03:28 AM

Because I didn't want to have the very first answer being the correct one... so because Cochise was an Apache I went with Cochise County... close as I could get without being right straight out of the gate... you see what I'm saying right? Cochise/Apache... you see the connection... my intent right?

Gerry

LOL...that was a great answer......ON BOTH COUNTS! LOL again....

locality guess, two snakes were labeled as being from Montana... figured the other two would be Nebraska simply because it seems to be his other favorite hunting ground, though with him and Cole you just never know, they both seem to cover a lot of states out that way.

Didn't "cheat" with Jerry, wanted to play his game with a clean conscience. Was pretty sure of Arizona from the coloring of the head... counties though... forget about it, wild guesses all the way. Entertaining little game in any event.

I didn't see this until now...thanks much! Although this female has passed on (got her head wedged between shoe box lid and show box top lip). I refuse to use shoe boxes ever again after this loss.....I only use the 9 inch round crystal clear containers with the snap lid. Thanks again....
