Thayeri size question

TonyT89 Dec 06, 2010 01:33 AM

I have always overlook Thayeri Kings but I can see why they are so popular. So many different variations not to mention a clutch can bring so many different colors and patterns as well! I might add some to my small collection of Kingsnakes next year.

I was wondering though, where do Thayeri max out in size? I hear 3 feet often but does anybody have any that has grown bigger? Are they one of the types where the females tend to grow larger?

Watch out....Thayeri are addicting.....LOL

I have seen no dimorphism in size.
The males and the females attain the same size when fully grown...........They usually do not reach 4 feet. 3 to 3.5 feet is a normal maximum length.

If a "thayeri" does reach 4 feet I would question its lineage information. Many crosses with Ruthveni have been made and Ruthveni reach 4 feet and over.

Thanks John! I will try my utmost best to keep a small to medium collection of Thayeri, but of course there's so many phases and types it's going to be difficult to stay away lol!
