Nicole Kidman wants a pet snake

EricWI Dec 07, 2010 03:46 PM

She could be another possible celebrity endorsement for our hobby:

London, Dec 7 (IANS) Actress Nicole Kidman who raises alpacas on her farm in Nashville has revealed she would love to extend her exotic pet collection to include snakes.

'I want to get some more weird animals eventually, I'd love to get snakes, I love them. They might not be a good idea around the baby though,' contactmusic.com quoted her as saying.

Australian-born Nicole admitted she is fascinated by unusual pets and loves the llama-like alpacas because they are 'so pretty'.

'We have alpacas on our farm because they're so pretty. They have lovely long lashes. I think they're really cool. I always wanted a mix of weird animals but that's the weirdest we have.

"They might not be a good idea around the baby though"

Well, a 16 foot python?......probably not..LOL!, but there are many countless different types of snakes that her having a baby would have no relevence with whatsoever. For some reason the general public seems to think that snakes and danger are synonymous with one another....even Nicole apparently does too simply by making the statement in the first place..LOL!

I've never heard of a small colubrid ever eating a kid.

But rest assured, if she had a 24 inch cornsnake in the same house(mansion) as the kid, the tabloids would probably soon read...."Nicole Kidman risks her infant's life with deadly snake in the house".....see full story on pg. 12

Teddy roosevelt kept a garter snake at the white house also john adams kept an alligator in a bath tub at the white house. Slash (guitarist for guns n roses) supposedly had a HUGE collection. He got rid of them all after the birth of his first child. He claims to have kept one anaconda though (go figure). Rumor is will smith and his wife are reptile keepers and leonardo dicaprio has a tortoise (very manly). ok they are KIND of cool actually. Nicholas cage had two cobras that his neighbors petitioned he get rid of after mentioning them on the tonight show (brilliant move).

DMong Dec 08, 2010 12:38 PM

LOL!!,...Yeah, not real bright of Nicholas Cage to have mentioned that little tid-bit of info on TV. I hope he didn't get rid of them due to the ophiophobic neighbor though.

If he was keeping them properly and legally, then I say tough "doo-doo" to the nosey neighbor!

Right you are Doug. Tabloid fodder, even if its a gartersnake.

I think celebs should keep most of their personal lives to themselves. Best for them and us. They can go underground, come on kingsnake.com as some user and not reveal. Maybe they are here already. Maybe Kelly Haller is Nicole Kidman..

I figured you were either Slash or Tom Cruise. Don't worry, your secret is safe. I won't post it on any forums lol.

I suspect Jerry Kruse is actually Dr. Phil. Just a guess.

if these unusual pets the celebs want or have wind up being cared and handled regularly by "staff" to keep them healthy and docile for the celebs to play with when the mood strikes. Remember Alice Cooper and the boas he used in his shows? According to Alice, he was not into snakes and apparently got them from handlers for use in his shows. Its not like he was in to them and kept them, cared for them, etc. I am sure celebs have facsinations for these animals like normal folks. Still, you wonder how much time do they have to dedicate to their animals when they are on set away from home months at a time to truely consider these animals as bonafide pets. I am sure old Leonardo's people found someone to construct an awesome tort pen on one of his properties and has a gardener or someone care for the animal daily. Probably just something cool for him to gawk at when the mood strikes. Hell, if I had his money I would have gotten an Aldabra LOL!!!

johnthebaptist Dec 09, 2010 09:04 PM

I think they do that with their own children. LOL let alone their pets.

DMong Dec 09, 2010 11:27 PM

LMAO!!,.....that's for sure!. You hit that right on the head, they don't have time to care for anything!

Enter the snake and tortoise "nanny"..LOL!

My thoughts exactly. It appears they have staff for their kids, so whats the likelihood they would care for a snake or tortoise LOL!!

DMong Dec 10, 2010 06:11 PM

Yeah, it is sort of a waste to not work with the entire aspect of snake keeping in my opinion, but to each his/her own I guess.
I can't really picture Nicole Kidman braining pinks, or cleaning out snake crap from the snake cages either..LOL!

That would be the job of her personal snake "butler". A full-time employee that wears a safari-type suite with their name just above the pocket, etc..

Ooh, my collection would be three times the size it is now if I could afford a snake nanny! Imagine - you'd never have to clean up poop and urates again!

Yeah, we'd totally still get to do all the fun stuff, like feeding - but who in their right mind likes cleaning up poop? It would be especially nice if I had a few giants in my collection...
