Russians mating

arborealmama Sep 26, 2003 09:59 PM

hi - my folks have several tortoises running around their back yard from my brother - long story, but a few months ago my son witnesses the russian tortoises mating. IS every mating session successful and will there be/ are there eggs? My folks have yet to find any eggs or little guys. Thanks for the info.

I know someone who has a troupe of russian torts. The males are always trying to mate with a particular female. After several years of trying, still no eggs.

I have a male who is always in the mood and 2 females who generally are not. After 3 years of trying and over 20 eggs laid, only one hatchling.

So mating does not always lead to eggs and/or hatchlings.
