Just wanted to see if anyone can help identify type/locale of a boa. He is real dark almost black where pattern normally is (red tail area is black) and remains about 4ft at 4 yrs old...thanks for any help. Please reply for pics since I don't know how to post them. Thanks.

Well, impossible to know for sure, even with pictures. However, if you picked it up locally, perhaps from a petstore, or someone that bought it from a petstore it's probably a BCI. A good chance it's a central american boa generically speaking. You can upload photos into the kingsnake gallery or link to another photo hosting site. Either way would make it fairly easy to put the photo into the forum once you have it uploaded. Even if we can't tell you for sure what it is, it's always fun to look at other boas.

Looks like an Anery type two Sonoran.

Nice boa.

I think things like that are what JB references. To me, it doesn't look sonoran, or anery. Looks like a dark central american, perhaps false anery. Anyway, if someone took that info and passed it along, things get screwed up quick. Eventually you see this animal or it's offspring offered as "Het Type 2 sonoran anery". Here's the thing, if the animal were a known morph, more than likely that information would've been known at the time of purchase. Usually if someone doesn't know what they have, it doesn't turn out to be something worth more than they paid for. With no picture and the description I was able to guess as much as was possible after the picture was shown. I have heard first hand "a buddy of mine said it looked like......" and that is what they are trying to sell it to me as. So, people do take opinions and run with them. Especially if it furthers their opinion that they have something out of the ordinary and therefore can get a little more money for it.

Well, I've had a couple people say central america so far so I can go toward that route. I know it would be hard to pinpoint exactly what country but thanks a bunch for all your input guys. Please, if anyone knows more please chime in!

I would say most likely Nicaraguan, possibly but not necessarily type-2 anery. Perhaps doing scale counts from a shed might help narrow it down somewhat.
