Most care sheets have everything covered , hogs are a wonderfu species to get into , just have a higher metabolism than regular colubrids and are usually kept are a bit higher temp.
What subspecies are you interested in?? i myself keep westerns .

I seem to be leaning toward the westerns, i will more than likely start with a few westerns for a while and probly work my way from there. Although there is a thread below showing the axanthic mexican and i did like that. So i suppose its still up in the air. Thank you for your input.

...to the dark side. You'll find that hognose can be the most fun and rewarding reptile to keep.

Jon R (ultimatehogs.com) and myself (bennettreptiles.com) both have caresheets on our websites.

Hi JL, If you have the experience necessary to breed and raise balls, corns, and boas, hoggies will not present any real problems. The care sheets on most websites cover their requirements well. I spent a lot of time on Justin Mitchum's Extreme Hogs website, but there are many others with good care sheets. I spend most of my time looking at the many morphs. LOL.

Prepare yourself for the fact that hognose may stop eating for reasons that may include breeding season, preparing for hibernation, or just to panic their keeper. LOL

Tell your fiance' that a pair of nice hoggies would be a great Christmas present.
