Lined Leaf Tail Gecko

spydergirl Sep 26, 2003 11:29 PM

Hi everyone. I am relatively new to the gecko world, only haveing a few house geckos a couple of years ago. i do though have many snakes, frogs, lizards, chameleons and other reptiles,so I am not new to this. I work in a petstore and we have just got in a Lined Leaf Tail Gecko. I've seen Satanic Leaf Tails before but i really am in love with this one. It is relatively large, about 6 inches, all yellow with a black tongue. I am really interested in getting one of my own at the future Herp show in KOP Nov.16 & 17. I hope someone will be selling some. I want to get the vivarium going ahead of time though. I have done alot of research, but no one goes into alot of detail. Will a 40 gallon glass tank be enough? I also have a 38 gallon Reptarium that I can use if it'd be more appropriate. I know theyre native to Madagascar,so they like high humidity, and lower temps(not terribly low of course, like mantellas)so what kind of lighting should i use? How is their diet,do they eat veggies and such as well?Id appreciate any replies, thanks so much!

Theres a uroplatus forum on kinsgnake. Not very active, but worth a shot.

I dont have any experience with lineatus, but to answer your questions...yes, a 40g would be sufficient. Make sure to buy CB animals, as WC's dont adjust as well. I dont think they eat veggies, because theyre insectevorius, but i heard they they take baby food and snails on occasion. Be sure to dust occasionally. Uv lighting is your choice, but its a good idea for the plants. You should add cork bark pieces, lots of plants, and bamboo to make them feel secure.

HTH.
