Folks,

We allow dissent, debate, and disagreement on issues. We welcome people who feel passionately about the subjects under discussion. We have no problem when the members of a community disagree, even when they passionately disagree. What we do not allow are conversations that degenerate into name-calling, insults, and/or general chaos that lead to the overall disruption to the flow of conversation on a forum.

There are several forums on this site that stand outside of the species-specific discussion forums. These forums serve a purpose and it benefits many folks who to take the time to explore them on occasion. This forum is a primary example:

The hybrid discussion forum was specifically created for the purpose of holding discussions about hybrids including the negative points of views that some folks may have about them. This forum exists to give people a place where they can fight it all out and not disrupt the flow of conversation on the regular discussion forums. When a hybrid topic of discussion on a regular forum becomes disruptive or out of control, then that discussion clearly no longer belongs on that forum and as such, chances are it will be moved to this forum where it properly belongs.

Now, if anyone wants to talk about or blow off major steam about anything (primarily off topic subject matters) that is likely to degenerate into a disruptive discussion, name calling match or fight, then fine, have at it, but take it to the Open Discussion Forum please. While the terms of service also apply to that forum, the enforcement of them there is a great deal more lenient than would be expected on the other forums in light of the special nature of that forum. The main thing to remember is to keep the language clean and do not break any of the major terms of service rules (advertising, bad dealer/trader warnings, etc.). When posting there, try to keep your head above water as it can get ugly at times and do not expect folks there to pull their punches.

Having said all that please be aware that by registering and using our sites and services, you have all agreed that you have read, and will abide by, our Terms of Service.

We try to make it very clear to folks that they need to be aware that if they violate the rules, OnlineHobbyist.com, Inc. may delete or edit their messages, contact their internet service provider, have their account terminated, cancel their advertising, and/or block their access to our web site. We reserve the right to refuse service, limit access, or terminate a user's site privileges at our discretion.

Although a host/moderator/staff member may on occasion warn a user about a violation (via a courtesy email letter), or post a general warning to a forum, photo gallery, or chat room, we have no policy guaranteeing that anyone will be warned about violations on their account, nor any specific number or type of violations that may result in action against their account.

Any public discussion of actions made against a user's account will be removed. We will not discuss any action against a user's account with anyone but the individual himself or herself. Likewise, we reserve the right to move or remove disruptive posts about actions a moderator(s) may have/may not have taken in regards to matters occurring on any forum.

Now no one is saying anyone has to like or even agree with the rules as they have been laid out, but if you choose to actively participate on any of the hundreds of Pet Hobbyist forums, it is expected that you will abide by them.

Feedback on the site's features and policies may be sent via the Feedback Form.

If you have had your ability to log in, post, or upload on/to the site rescinded, or had posts or images removed, or had your access to chat rooms blocked, or have a problem with the actions taken by the moderator(s) of any forum, you may contact the Kingsnake.com Site Coordinator and discuss the matter.

I don't see why the hybrid forum needs to be one of the arguement hubs..I understand that it is a way to avoid disruptions in specific species forums but it seems like you consider hybridizers or anyone interested in the subject to be second class citizens.

Thanks Randy T.

So does that mean we can post negative points of views on corns, boas, kings ect as long as we do not bring up hybrids?
NO!

Can I go on the boa forum because I do not like the large boids and say they should be made illegal because they are dangerous and give the snake hobby a bad name.
NO

Or how about recently when a poster asked how to breed cornsnakes as feeders to his kings on the cornsnake forums? That caused quite the uproar. That got deleted by the mods with no explantion.. hmmmmmmm? Double standard maybe?
yes

Seems a little off base and prejudicial from the mods point of view. I would be willing to bet that KS and their affiliate staff do not care for hybrids.
SO

Bottom line is this ain't city hall and we are in THEIR house.
We have to play by their rules! KS provides a unique service in that we have the opportunity to share our love (and hate) of certain reptiles on a site that has more people and hits than any other reptile site. That in itself is a priviledge. Does that make their rules and them perfect. NO! But we are still priveledged to participate.
yes indeed

I know of one mod that owns a hybrid.

It really is a shame that I didn't want to sponsor this forum purely because it brings up such negativity.
I'd love to see it be a place for intelligent debate. The intelligent purists do have some very rational points and there's no reason they shouldn't be allowed to voice them here, but the blind attacks from both sides is unnecessary.

We would like a place to discuss the breeding and keeping of hybrids. After you have been here as long as I have the posters change but the questions and the debates are always the same - blah blah blah !
Why can't we be left alone like the king, rosy, indigo, gecko people. We are not interested in debating whether you SHOULD breed hybrids. Maybe you are but this is not really the right place or IMO the right (or polite) thing to do.
Would you go on a homosexual site and list the reasons why you think its wrong to have same sex partners?
Keep it on your own sites where you can debate it amongst yourselves. I am sure a few hybrid breeders people will show up and give their two cents once in a while. Otherwise it just a disruption...which is probably fine with most of you because that is what you want. And this proves my point.

I respect your opinion, but feel you misinterpretted mine.

I fully support this forum as a standalone forum, but I do feel that intelligent debate is to be encouraged on ANY forum.

In the cornsnake or leo forum, if a mother came on and was clearly prejudiced against buying reptiles for her child- would you encourage the deleting of her posts as harassment and trolling? Or would you try to educate her?

Now granted it's a very different scenario, but I hope it gets my point across?

I do not support flame wars or anything else of such a negative nature, but I do believe that educating others is the primary duty of each and every topical forum on this website.
