I sent in one of the (lazy) form letters for the upcoming votes and got back a reply from Schumer (NY) thanking me for supporting(!) his vote to protect us against invasive species.
I wrote a reply in more clear concise english...apparently necessary. The flowery legallese was lost on his mail sorter. Skimming for meaning is apparently a lost art.
So just a suggestion, if you are writing officials....be clear and to the point.

I hate it when you send in your letters and they (elected officials) reiterate what the bill is about, as if you are uninformed. Gee George, I just wrote a 2 page letter about why that bill is crap, pretty sure I know what it is about. As an aside, I got a response from Sen. Manchin (WV) for my letter the other day, and the response was so vague I had not even a clue as to whether he supported me or not. Well, I hope I at least put a bug in his ear.
