There's nothing wrong with that, as long as the cage is adequate size and there's no crickets left in the morning. Theoretically the crickets could bug your geckos, so you want them to be able to get away from the crickets if they didn't finish them all. I have several that I feed this way.

I felt just like you when i used crickets, but very recently i switched to mealworms and i just make sure there are always 6 in the food dish and i will not worry until i see that there are still 6, because then i know they arent eating.

If you feed crickets though, it's a good idea to keep an eye on them and remove all the extra crickets after your leo loses interest. If your leo doesn't eat all of the crickets, then some of them might go lay eggs in the humid hide, dirty up your tank with their poop, drown in the water, annoy your leo, etc.

If you feed mealies, then just make sure you refill the bowl. I put in 15.
