23 days and no shed.

djinn Dec 26, 2010 01:49 PM

I have two babies from my 12/3 litter that haven't shed yet. 23 days.. I've never had babies go this long before. Have you? They are in sweater boxes with paper towels and a water bowl. I either mist or pour water in every other day to keep humidity up. Hot spot between 90* and 92*, cool end 80* to 82*.

I was thinking about putting moist peat moss (agricultural type) in the tubs with them until they shed. My only concern with doing that is peat is kind of acidic. I don't know if it's enough to harm them though. Has anyone tried that? Any other ideas?

Thanks!

I had one need to take its first meal before going blue and another that ate several meals before going blue this year.

Have yours gone blue and not shed, or not gone blue?

I noticed some of them in blue, but to be honest, I'm not sure which ones they were exactly, lol. Maybe I should keep better records.. I didn't try to feed the two that haven't shed, but I will now.

Thanks~

I had a couple of babies this year that skipped their first shed. I was worried about them and misted them frequently, but they ended up shedding out fine at about the same time that the rest of the babies from that litter were having their second shed. Hope yours end up being the same way!
