Number system

laurieds Dec 27, 2010 11:05 PM

I have had my young male corn snake, Bert, for three months and my young female corn snake, Earnie, for a month. That has brought out my interest in herpetoculture. I have been pouring over forums and websites and the local pet stores. One thing I have noticed is the numbering system for these critters, such as the l.0, 2.1, .1, etc. I would really appreciate a good explanation of how it works. I am posting in the Hognose forum because I am currently doing research into owning them myself. Number, color, morph, age and gender all to be determined through my research and my available resources. I would really like to start some relationships with other reptile owners. I just created a reptile website and there are faint hopes of a reptile store in the future. I am really working on being able to be known as the Reptile Lady.

It is the sex ratio. The first number is male, followed by female, then unsexed is the third number. 1.3.2 would read one male, three females, and two unsexed.
