Wich proven Morphs?

Flyfan Dec 30, 2010 07:19 AM

Hello Everybody,
just curious about wich proven Morphs do exist at the Rainbows. I remeber in a book of 2006 there was:

- Albino (BRB & Columbian)
- Hypo
- Anery
- Striped
- T Columbian
- Leucitic
- Licorice
- Calico

Does anybody know wich are proven now and maybe there are some more?

Thanks

Mike

We also have Albino Argentine rainbows, and patternless Colombians. As well as granite Colombians.

Thanks for the answers.

@Josh I saw in John Berrys book of 2006 all the Morphs from Ian G.
As you also have outback in your nick I think you are a part of Outback Reptiles right? If so do you have any pic of those morphs? Would be really interesting to see!

Albino: yes, but relatively new/scarce, very pricey I believe it's technically unproven at this time. I do fully expect it to prove out.
Hypo: well established
Anery: well established
Striped: pattern variant rather than true morph, several types One proven, others unproven - they do appear to be variable expression
Leucitic: not that I'm aware
Licorice: not that I'm aware
Calico: still in final stages of proving, very pricey

Also, you can add "ghost," which Lockwood just produced this year.
Technically not a morph. It's what's a called a "designer morph" - combination of two or more existing morphs

I heard otherwise, from multiple sources, and recently. They could be wrong, though. (?)
Albino's being produced or offspring from the original Albino (hets)? I've heard several rumblings about het pairs being sold but not heard word one about an actual Albino being produced.

This one, I think, it splitting hairs, and far less significant than the difference between morphs and color/pattern variants. If is has multiple morph genes, it’s still a morph, “designer” marketing label or not.
I agree it's splitting hairs but IMO an important distinction. There is not a "Ghost BRB" gene. I believe Ghost is more correctly defined as a marketing title for Hypo/Anery. Yes, a "Ghost" is a Morph, but for two separate reasons, it's Hypo and it's also Anery

To answer the albino question.

We have hets on the ground from this season and last season. Only a few pairs of hets have been released so far. We will hopefully have albino's on the ground shortly. It will be a great day for the rainbow market when the first c.b albino Brazilians hit the market.

As with any other albino variation this animal is sure to prove out as a standard amelanistic morph.

We are also hoping to have het albino Argentine rainbows on the ground shortly as well.

New pics will be posted shortly, just figuring out a new camera in the mean time...

Hope this helps.

Josh,
...I am pretty much not interested in this entire thread except that I REALLY WANT TO SEE PHOTOS OF THE AMELANISTIC ARGENTINIAN. I have been hearing rumors about the snake for too long without seeing pics.
Happy New Year,
Jeff

josh_outback Dec 31, 2010 10:36 AM

Soon, very soon.

I am figuring out the new camera so we can get some decent pics where you can see the actual animal, and not a horrid mess like my reg. pics..lol

Until then check out John Berry's book for pics of him.

I will try for new pics next week.

Flyfan Dec 31, 2010 11:16 AM

That would be great. Maybe you can shot some of the Granites as well. Love to see more and also as more seen the morphs as mor interest you can make! Just my opinion!

IkeLightner Dec 31, 2010 09:48 AM

Lets see those pics!! These albinos seem to be some type of top secret classified information. I am very happy for you or whoever else might have albino brbs, I bet they are spectacular and priced accordingly (outrageously??). I am just excited to see the pics and add another snake to my dream/wishlist! Do us all and yourselves a huge favor and show us an albino BRB picture.........please.......!!!!!!!!! I can't imagine it could hurt your sales, as long as it exists.
