Variations in Mystics

anthony james mc Dec 30, 2010 08:57 PM

Noticed some comments about how much the Mystic gene seems to vary in the Super forms . I also have noticed the same myself. From the first 2 Potions I made almost 2 years ago to the 2 Super Mystics I have now. Here's a little comparison for you, the Super Mystic shown on the paper towel appears to have the Santa Cruz highlighter gene in her as her head is very washed out more than the Super Phantoms or Super Phantom Yb's I have seen thus far. Even the Super Mystic I made does appear to be a bit different looking than the regular Super Phantoms I have seen as his Stripe is extremely bright for not having any Yb in him and the color hue seems a little different to me as well .

I bred the original import male that started my line to some VERY strange looking unproven normals that I thought had potential. It appears some of those "odd normals" were in fact morphs too so there likely is a couple other genes floating around within my line that haven't been isolated on their own quite yet. Alot of the extreme examples remain here so in time I'll know whats truely genetic and what was more random.

Anyway here's the pics of the Super Mystics as babies!

Hope everyone has a safe and fun New Years!

Anthony,

Is there anywhere I can learn more about the santa cruz highlighter gene or could you provide more info on it? Its new to me and of interest as I have a mystic male. I can defiantly see what your speaking of with the blushing on the super mystics head. Very nice and pretty busy pattern I think that the more I've seen on any super mystic or phantom. Also have you got any further with the CH normal girls you used to start your line of mystics?

Thanks

Highlighter genes are just genes that act like a hypo usually in a codom fashion, that's what that gene is about. Not sure until she is bred out if that's the gene she has but likely that's the case.

As for the other possible genes until they are isolated on their own you can't really say much about them really. Not every Mystic carrys any extra gene , don't read into it to much . I will wait till I know more before getting into those details.
