I tried a one day old pink today with lizard scent. Placed them in a deli cup and in 10 minutes it was gone. I guess the tiny pinky did the trick? Good thing I raise mice.

Sounds like she is on for sure!! Just keep reducing the scent each time and eventually she will be on unscented f/t before you know it. In fact, try it next feeding. You never know man.
yeah, I really want to start putting some growth on this girl!

I think what the appeal is with just born pinks is they still have the blood smell of birth on them. The mama mouse cleans her newborns up pronto to eliminate this smell, which is ambrosia to predators. In a few hours the smell seems to be gone.
Glad to hear she is eating. If one has to have one small snake and one large snake in a pair, it should be the female who is big and the male who is smaller! LOL!

That's good to hear! From eating lizards to eating scented pinks. Some snakes get the real deal and that's all they set their appetites on! Congrats on that! One of my Alterna ate 2 scented pinks, then unscented and now he will not eat so I'm guessing he will want a lizard but I will try that container with a pinkie in it to see how that will go. I wonder is it because I have to cool him down.
Did you do that container trick overnight or was it during the day? I just forgot what you wrote and so I can't press the back button to see, lol!

You can never have only one snake!
Alterna are mostly nocturnal, so I would try it at dusk. Leave it for a couple hours and check it before you go to bed. Now my alterna were eating like monsters till about November. Then they came to a screeching hault, and now eat smaller meals every couple weeks. I have two that I think may be big enough to breed by summer time after some more pushing, so I will brumate them this weekend. Yours may just be going thru that natural slowdown because they sense winter is here. If you could cool him down in a cool ppart of your house for about a month I bet he will snap back eating strong. Make sure you give him about 10 to 15 days to empty his gut before you do that. If you do tru the pink in a cup. Get the smallest pink you can find and most Alterna I ever hatched respond very well to split brain pinks. Good luck! My S.Georgia wide band ate a tiny pink unscented this time, so maybe she'll continue with the pinkies, then fuzzies.

Jorge,
Darn....I just wrote a big reason why he started eating again but instead pressed a button on my laptop and the freaking page went back so it was all erased so here it goes again lol. The gist of it is that I used the method Bob and BigT showed me with the equate bedding spray today and it worked like a charm! Not only that, didn't hurt to try but I dropped a pinkie in there and he aggressively ate it! He did seem more unusually active today. Now I really do not know whether it was the mites or the Winter starting to roll over that made him eat again lol.
Other than that, I apologize for putting a subject in your message that was irrelevant to this. I just thought about it. Anyway, to make matters better I guess... really glad he ate a scented pink for you! Don't you just feel accomplished? I know I do every time I convert my scented pink eaters to unscented...pretty much nearly the same conversion!

Tony no apology needed! This forum is like a family of sorts. At least for me it is. We all have one thing that brings us here, which is a passion for snakes. I'm glad to hear yours is eating again, I know what a releif that is. The mites can definately take it's toll on a snake and the season may have had a small part in it too. I hope it continues to improve for you. On my end I'm not celebrating yet cause i have seen snakes begin eating unassisted and then revert back, but I have a good feeling about this one, so hopefully she will take off like a rocket.
