Golds are not easy to tame, but if you found one that is already tame at a pet store, it will not be the same when you get it home, I have tons of teeth marks on my hands from a gold Tegu! I can't same to get him tame. I have no problem with my black and white. Email me if you have any questions on the care of golds or any Tegu! Free advice can't hurt!!

I think that if this gold (aka colombian black and white) is already fairly tame at the pet store, then you have a pretty good start. However, you do have to understand that it probably won't act this way initially when you get it home. I worked with Blake (colombian) for a month at the pet store that I worked at before I bought him. He was so well behaved there that I could let anyone handle him once he was out of hig cage. Once I got him home though, he had to readjust to new surroundings and a very different environment. Now of course, he's my little angel.

I can seriously let pretty much anyone hold him, although he does tend to wiggle with new people. I think that if you're willing to put in the time to allow him to readjust to the new environment at your house and you're patient, I think it's totally worth while.

I honestly didn't find Blake that difficult to tame. He still to this day is a little testy when I'm getting him out of his enclosure, and he definitely doesn't like being rudely awakened, but he's a very sweet lizard!

If you didn't already, you also might want to check the temps at which the store is keeping him. I've noticed more than a few pet stores keep their reptile temps quite a bit too low. Cool reptiles are usually calmer reptiles...until they warm up.
