Hey all,

Simple question--is a 40Gal Breeder tank big enough to provide permanent housing for an adult bp? Also, what's the difference between a regular 40 Gallon and a 40 Gallon Breeder? Thanks.

A 40 gallon breeder is normally a tank specifically designed for snakes, ie. shorter in height and wider at the base. It should be okay for a single adult BP provided you put all the necessary accoutrements(hide boxes, water, heatsource, etc..)

Hey nebo –

I’d say that’s a decent-sized home for a three or four foot adult ball python.

This Chart of Tank Sizes should answer your question about tank dimensions.
