Whew! All finished!

$800 (including the stand and new cage furniture) and a whole lot of labor later, I finally have a new setup for my snakes! I went with 4'x 2'x18"stackable melamine critter condos from a local reptile store. They gave me tips on how to keep the melamine functioning in high humidity, and I had to sew a fine mesh over the light cages for my two smaller snakes to prevent burns. I did decide to partition my baby BRB's tank for now - mostly because I want to be able to find her easily! The stand is from Ikea And no, I'm not actually using overhead heat for my BRB; I just wanted to be able to see her for the pictures! Are you ready for some really bad photography? Of course you are! I'll have to break this into a couple of posts, so here goes:

And here are the close-ups. The first is a shot of my ball python, Sava, already hiding. She's the biggest of the three and by far the biggest coward. The second is my Savu python, Argent. She's kind of a nutcase, and the initial reason for the mesh over the light cage; she's already climbed all over it. The third is Garnet, beloved BRB! Ok, so she's actually hiding under that cork bark on the substrate, but you get the idea - and like I said, the overheat heat light is just for the photo! I added another water dish and a few more hides. Apparently I like buying the tank furniture as much as I do my own furniture; my husband cut me off before I could buy any more stuff! Does anyone here have any experience with aquarium decorations as hides? Any critiques or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Very nice, congrats on the new setup. And yeah, it totally normal for the enclosure(s) to cost more than the occupant(s).

I tried really hard to get my husband to let me buy a "spare" tank, you know, just in case, but alas. He's going to feel dumb when another stray snake follows me home...

Those Melamine Cages look nice. I know how you feel about an extra cage. Brazilian Rainbow Boas always seem to follow me home too
