Being turtles of cool mountain streams, I keep mine about room temperature in their room (about 68-70 F). They can get cooler in the winter, and some people hibernate them. You can find more information on bigheads at : http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Platysternon/

There you will find lots of help from some very wonderful people who love their Platysternids!

Good Luck!

I had a bighead for many years. I kept him in shallow water in a large tub with some rocks and such. He ate everything and was kept at room temp. Which in the real world ( where there are now palm trees) is 64-65 degrees F.

although big heads are somewhat tropical turtles they require a low water temperature from 53 degrees farenheight to 72 degrees.
