Breeding weight for female corns?..

sartori Sep 27, 2003 10:59 AM

ive looked for a "set" number online.. and i cant seem to find anything. What sort of weight am I looking for out of my females for them to be "breedable" this season?

like in ball pythons its suggested not to breed before the female is 1200 grams at least.. males whenever pretty much.

thanks much

I don't think anybody has come up with a breeding weight for female corns. It's more of a judgment call -- length 33 inches (or bigger), at least 18 months old, and appears in good flesh rather than skinny. Meet all three criteria, and sexual maturity is probable. Or wait another year after these criteria are met if you want to be positive.

I don't recall where I got the number, but I am sure I heard 300 grams as the difinitive number. Of course, just like with the ball pythons you really need to keep all the factors in mind, not just wieght.
