trying a picture

bigtman Jan 06, 2011 12:43 PM

Just thought I would put up a picture of my setup for my new babies. they have two hides one on hot side one on cool side. I also put a small deli cup(the ones they came in) filled with cypress to up the humidity. I have one that is in shed. hot side temp is 85/87 and cool side is 73/74, it all depends on the time of day. by the way humidity is at 70%.
I will post pic of the babies in a few, after they settle in.

The humidity where is 70%...
Ideally there should be a humidity gradient.....A place where there is low humidity, a place with high humidity and everywhere in between........

Great looking setups....Congrats on the new Kings!

John the setup I have them in right now is small, I live in the desert , and we hardly have any humidity. so my thinking was up the humidity so they could shed easily. I figure that over time the cypress would start to dry and the humidity would get lower. If I was to keep it at one level what would be a good range? Once they get bigger i have nice vision cages for them.
Thanks

I like the clear boxes. Those are very hard to find anymore. It's hard to get a humidity gradient in small cages but if you give them a moist hide and put it on the same side as the water bowl (cool side), and then put dry substrate in the rest of the cage it should help. 70% is pretty high for the entire cage I think? A moist hide should be enough for them to choose moist when it's time to shed.

Thanks I will try that. also I like the clear boxes too. With my babies being new, I don't have to move the boxes around to look in on them.
