UhOh, I see some diarrhea...

djfuente Sep 27, 2003 11:34 AM

OK, so Giblet's morning poop yesterday was not as well formed as it usually is and the same happened this morning. I would say it was "light to moderate" diarrhea, meaning not that runny, but not firm either. I know this can be a sign of Coccidia or parasites. What do you all suggest I do?

If nothing in his diets changed.....a fecal would be a good idea....never hurts to get one anyway. It may be nothing, but better to check and know for sure.

if its only been once, i wouldnt get too worried yet. maybe he ate too much, too early or too late, yada yada. of course a fecal is never a bad idea in general. if the diarrhea keeps up and you cant find another explanation, then you should definetely get a fecal and be on the lookout for coccidia

What do you feed your dragon? Is the smell worse than normal poo smell? It is always possible the insects or greens had a higher water content than usual. How is his activity? Is he eating the same amount as usual? Same activity level?

Having a fecal done would be a good precaution to ensure no problems with parasites and other intestinal problems.

how much is a fecal usually? I go to NC State and they have a well known vet program, do you think they could do it for a small fee?
