Granite ??'S

johnmartino Jan 07, 2011 05:00 PM

Could you guys help me out with Granites? Been thinking about adding them to my collection but need some help. Can you guys tell, anbd possibly show, the traits that make a Granite? And maybe where to get proven lines? Thanks, John.

Single Spot behind the Head "Dorsal", obvious Flecking on the sides of the animal. and Ralph Davis Has a Genetic Line.

I think over the past few years, many Balls have been labeled as Granites for having just a few dark flecks. Some look promising, most look like normals. I have seen a few Genetic lines, I think Camlon might have one if I am not mistaken, and maybe Ralph Davis, and one of the guys over on the "Southern" Boards.

I got this male and a female that looks identical to him, by taking two short road trips last year to Los Angeles and Vegas. Both snakes were sub adults to almost adults when I got them. They are in together now, and I have high hopes for a nice clutch of speckled babies.

My snakes have lighter than normal brown heads, with the really faded stripe behind the head. The look is pretty appealing....I hope they are genetic.
