A little OT, but substrate is substrate.

I recently got done building an Iguana enclosure for my female Iguana my Mom is now caring for. It's a very large indoor enclosure about 6x5x6 and in the past I've always used non particle substrates for fear of impaction, but the news papers, and repti carpets are not working anymore with such a large enclosure, and the water is just making a mess. Plus now that my Mom has her with such a nice enclosure she wants it done more natural for her. Any ideas? I'm still going to feed her on a piece of linoleum I put in one corner, but the rest of the cage I want to use something loose for easier clean up. Any ideas? I posted on the iguana forum, but got one answer suggesting repti carpet. I guess they read over the part that that's what I was looking to change from. I just don't know what the best choice would be as I've never used any loose substrate before other then sand for the beardies for a short time. Thanks for any suggestions.

If it is an enclosure you don't plan to move around alot, you could just use ceramic tile on the bottom. You will need to glue it down and seal the spaces inbetween the tiles and along the walls, with a silicon sealer..but once that is done, clean up will be just a matter of using a wet cloth and antibacterial soap, then rinse and dry.

I dont know much about iguanas...but if it's a big enclosure, wont it be mostly off the ground on branches? If you have plants, why can't you just use dirt or that shredded bark stuff? I'm jw, sry if I'm not any help, lol

That's what i was wondering about, lol. The bark stuff. I don't hink soil is too good cause of the spread of bacteria, and fungus in some soils. She does spend most of her time up high basking, and comes down to eat. Just wanted to get a few ideas.
