Can I breed her???

jack2682 Jan 14, 2011 12:37 AM

I've haven't thought of breeding my females until they reach 1500 grams....

More and more I see people claim they are pairing their ladies at 1100 grams or so....

I have a het caramel female around 1150grams that I'm eager to breed....

Are their seasoned breeders out their that breed at 1100 grams??

Thanks for your input.....

IMO, NO!

i dont breed until they are 1500 grams PERIOD. But thats just my practice.

Like mentioned by someone else, some breed at 1100 because they just cant wait. They do not take the health of the animal into account when breeding. Im not saying that girls cant go at 1100, im just saying that they shouldn't.

How old is she?

jack2682 Jan 14, 2011 10:39 AM

She is an 08....

health is all i needed to hear.

Thanks for the reply

I wouldnt breed her, i have a female mojave im breeding this year at 1375 but she is short and extremely thick, (just as thick as some of my 2000 girls) that is the only way i would say one should ever be breed under 1500 in my opinion. I actually made a average size egg out of styrofoam and place it next to my females and if their girth doesnt at least match the egg i wont even try to breed her no matter what her weight is.

yeah, cause I always have ball python eggs in my fridge. I buy them by the dozen at Woodmans...lol

A large chicken egg is roughly the same size as a small ball python egg. It's definitely worth the time-savings by using a chicken egg and eyeballing it...
Wow, creativity and imagination NOT! PFFFFFTTTT!

i have never seen a ball python egg as small as a chicken egg, and its made out of foam, takes all of 2 minutes to make a oval shape whoohaa that took alot.
