Does anyone here frequently goo to herp shows? I am going to one tomorrow and don't really know what to expect. I do know there will be a lot of vendors there... my poor pocketbook

I go fairly often. Expect to see a lot of corns, ball pythons, kingsnakes, milksnakes, leopard geckos, and bearded dragons. But there are also normally lots of really nice, and not so commonly kept, snakes and herps as well. Never too many frogs, but sometimes there is a nice assortment, however small it may be. Andy

I plan on going to my first show on Oct 11. Let us know how your first show is.

Herp shows here cost money to park and admittance into the herp show. Most of the vendors have bearded dragons, chameleons, ball pythons, corn snakes, and a few other popular reptiles. If you are looking for something specific that is not common, you might be disappointed in your selection. But of course it matters on how many vendors there are. I found the last show I went to not worth the time and money I spent. I probably won't be going to another for a while (next one is in Dec in my area) since what I am looking for is not common... I used to go to shows when I could, but that was back in the days when I also had my own table at a show and wanted popularly kept reptiles (like leopard geckos, ball pythons, chameleons, and breaded dragons). But it is always great to check out a show at least once just for the experience...

Not really many frogs there, but a lot of nice darts and also a huge white's treefrog. I got a nice big male ball python normal for $40, which I plan on breeding with my subadult female. So it was a great day! Would have loved to see more frogs though. Maybe next year I will get a table and sell frogs, if I can manage to get a good beeding crop this Spring.
