Ackie Breeding

Well, it finally happened, after seeing the Male work and work for the female over the last couple weeks, you could imagine my surprise when I walked downstairs to see them hooked up. My questions now are what to do. If she did take when will the eggs come out. Can you leave the eggs in there or is it best to take them out. Also, will they eat the little ones if after time I introduce them back in. I am very excited and hope this works out. I was just thinking the other night was I should have gotten at least 4 of these guys when I bought the first 2, that way I would see more activity. Anyways, any help would be appreciated.

Hey rottenweiler9,
Good to hear they are locking up. Hopefully it will stick. If it does, feed the snot out of the female the next 15-20 days and ensure she has adequate nesting. I remember a guy posting a while back on varanus that he had black heads go full term and hatch right where they were laid in the enclosure. However, he didn't even know his female laid. Most incubate eggs artificially as you have more control over an incubator then you do the couple hundred pounds of dirt in an enclosure. Good luck and I hope it all goes smooth. Pictured is a week old yellow I produced.
