Hate to bum you out, but I think you would want something heavier! As far as toxcity, I would think if it's safe for other pets, it would be safe for balls!
I figured I was being a little too cautious on that one but just wanted to make sure. Why heavier?
Ball pythons are notorious for knocking over water dishes.
Stainless is fine though. It's safe for human consumption.

I have 6 liter stainless dog water dishes in all my adult bins, they never get knocked over, and they're AWESOME!!! Easy as all heck to clean
