2011 Wish List

KcTrader Jan 18, 2011 05:38 PM

Alright spring time is almost here and I am sure I am not the only one getting "mating, eggs, and hatchlings" on the brain. What is on everyones 2011 wish list (to add to their collection) this year? Here's mine:

Grumbeck line L.p.k
Ross line L.p.k
L.ruthveni ( different locales )
Shannon's Candy Cane Knoblochi
Striped/Abarrent Knoblochi ( only if I can track some down)

As you can see I am L.p.k crazy for some reason...Can't leave out a mate for my partial spotted L.p.p

That High White is a smoker! I have a male like that but it has newspaper print in the white and yours is nice and clean. Good Luck with those looks like they will really throw some awesome babies. Here's a pair of my low banded L.p.p hooked up last year but no eggs from the female so I am keeping my fingers crossed this year.

John, didn't even think about posting the at home projects also...Great pair of lists and good luck with acquiring and producing. I have to say I like that Diablo phase ruthveni just as much as the stripes and super I think.

I am really looking forward to producing few things this year, Super Stripe Ruthveni(possibly a amel super stripe), getting my low band L.p.p to produce they maybe some gene filled animals as the mom is 66% het albino/50% het BHB hypo and dad is 66% het applegate/ 50% het sentz and of course possibly a Hypo Knob! Hypo knob may have to wait another year as they just aren't big enough yet.

Yep...It is going to be interesting what comes from the Ruthveni pairings and Pyro pairings you have planned Jimmy.

That Diablo female is Shannon Brown's and I want to produce a whole clutch of them so I can have a pair of my own....LOL

I sure will Kevin...
I have 2.2 and am trying get them to breed right now.
I've had them together since the beginning of the month and only separating for feeding. They are on a light cycle an have gone through an aestivation of sorts. These things are certainly different than our ole kingsnakes......

John, do those have to "court" for a good while like some of the other boid types?. I have heard those were a bit trickier to figure out, and not much breeding success has been accomplished with them thus far. Is this indeed the case?

Yes the "court" until the female ovulates.
It takes much heat to get them to ovulate too....

Also, male combat plays an important role in getting them males interested in breeding......and they can be vicious to one another......I have saved sheds from each male and threw them in the other's enclosure....One of them ate the other male's shed....LOL

And.....They are a bit trickier to figure out.....this is my first year working with them....I have talked to three known breeders about them and conglomerated all their information.....
I hope they reproduce......Fingers crossed......

A pair of these; but just a pipe dream unless I come into a major windfall! LOL! Nobody pregnant in our household, but plenty of things needing repairs...
I need to contact this fellow to see if his indigos bred again. I just love to torture myself with wanting things I can't afford...

The kind I ant is Drymarchon corais couperi, the Eastern Indigo. Those are endangered in their native habitat. Out here in California I don't have to get the permit since my friend with the breeding pair lives in the same state. Just need $1600 for a pair of hatchlings and a REALLY BIG cage...

I would love a pair of them but I worry about housing; they're insanely active snakes and get pretty big. I'd be looking at (I guess, haven't checked) like an 8' cage or better.
The texas indigo was my *most common find* when I spent a week or so in south texas; I'd been hoping with my fingers crossed to get one and we got...6? 7? 10? I don't know anymore. I found more indigos than nerodia, thamnophis and crotalus. O.o

My "wishlist" is for everything I've got to breed!

On the subject of keeping things "under control", I will probably always add interesting snakes to my collection as I come across them. But, I hope to distribute enough of my locality stock over the next couple years so that I won't feel obligated to keep every line going.

bone47 Jan 19, 2011 11:15 PM

Thats the problem Nick waaaaaay too many interesting snakes out there lol.

Oh wow, I never heard of a striped knoblochi until your post. How the heck does a striped one look like? I can't even imagine how it would appear in my mind...

As of this year I am trying to look for a super busy sided knob with a high band count with as an extra some red on the head. I really would love the knob to have a blank horizontal or missing busy side pattern, hard to explain, but sort of looks like Steve Osborne's type II knob on his website. I am currently on wait for Jonel though for that so crossing my fingers that he will breed one this year! I like your list, as it would be similar to what I am looking for if I could squeeze more Kings in my collection!

Tony

This guy is still M.I.A and I really want him back dearly =(!!!!
